Q Why a Literature Review? One of the main reasons you are creating a?literature review for this portion of your project is to demonstrate your ability to properly find, cite, and summarize research related to your project topic.?You will be practicing the skill of reading and accurately summarizing complex ideas from psychological research, but also evaluating this research to determine if it adheres to the APA ethics code.? How is this Literature Review unique? The literature reviews included in research studies generally conclude by identifying something specific that hasn’t yet been fully explored to set the stage for new research that will expand this body of knowledge.?Because of the compressed nature of this capstone, your literature review will conclude with a more traditional summary. Your literature review for this course will also include a specific ethical analysis component. Here's what to do: Step 1: Review the Literature Review requirements The rough draft of your literature review should reflect the following: • At least 6-10 diverse scholarly sources o At least one scholarly source must address your topic from a biopsychological perspective o At least one scholarly source must address your topic from a lifespan or developmental psychology perspective o The majority of your sources should be current sources (within the last 5 years) • An introduction • A focus on analysis and synthesis rather than summary or description of article content. o What are the key themes or topics of the research studies you have reviewed? • A 1-2 paragraph discussion of the ethical dilemmas and social responsibilities inherent in your social justice issue o Note: this discussion of ethics need not be by theme/topic like the example provided in Step 2. • A summary o Summarize the purpose of your research and the theories used to examine the social justice issue. o In your own words, what are the most prominent research and findings related to your topic? o Based on your research what are your proposed strategies for reducing or eliminating your social justice issue? o If you have any questions after completing your research, you can also list those in your summary. • APA formatting Depending on the number of scholarly sources used, your literature review should be approximately 2,000-2,500 words, and should not exceed 3,000 words. (Word counts exclude title pages, headers, and reference list.) REMINDER: your literature review should NOT include any discussion of the methodologies used in the studies you review. Step 2: Submit your Literature Review Rough Draft Your Literature Review rough draft should be submitted as a Word document (.doc, .docx, or .rtf) or PDF. Submit your assignment to the Turnitin dropbox below. DO NOT submit your assignment directly to Turnitin.com. See submission guidance below for additional details. The topic under investigation is "Impact of systematic racism on the psychological wellbeing of African-American women," where systematic racism is focused more towards the institutional and organizational entities that hinder working women's capabilities based on their color and race. It is difficult to comprehend and analyze the burden of people of color when they have been at a disadvantage for a long time. It is harder to imagine the hopeless situations where not only women but men of a certain color are deprived of the same privileges their white peers have access to in the facility. Thus, it makes it even more important to look into the uneven and biased assumptions, which lead towards outcomes that damage the overall wellbeing of African American women in the corporate sector.
